Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) is a family-based option for youth aged 13-17. What this means is that you’ll be opening your home to a youth in need so they can benefit from the routines, security and sense of stability that living with your family can provide. Often, these youth have experienced trauma, grief and loss and a loss of their sense of belonging. With your support, youth can reconnect to their culture, communities and families while gaining the skills needed to succeed.
McMan’s Therapeutic Foster Care program stands out by providing:
· Competitive compensation for daily rates and training
· Clinical supports for the youth and family
· Cultural supports for the youth and family
· A facilitated team approach
· Access to a youth worker and a family specialist
· Intentional placement matching
· Compensated transition planning
You would be a great fit for a youth who needs you if:
· You are willing and open to providing emotional support to a youth
· You rent or own a home that provides a safe and nurturing environment
· You are willing to undergo a paid for SAFE Home Assessment
· You are ready and able to engage in substantial initial and ongoing training hours
· You are able to provide a clear Child Intervention Check
· You own a reliable and insured vehicle and are able to provide a Driver’s Abstract
· You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
· It is an asset if you have vocational or volunteer experience with trauma-impacted youth.
