McMan is currently seeking someone who has a passion for working with youth and young adults. The Relief Resident Worker will be responsible for working from a client centered strength-based approach while providing support and general on-site supervision during the evening and night, to youth ages 16 to 24. The Relief Resident Worker will be actively involved in supporting youth with any individual needs that arise while on-site such as: urgent requests, cleaning, mental health, medical support, safety concerns, etc. As a Relief Resident Worker, you will have your own bedroom with the bathroom, kitchen and living area shared with a youth.
As a fundamental practice across all McMan services, we work with individuals to help them maintain and grow relationships that can extend beyond our professional support - lifelong connections that can help people sustain and build on their strengths and new skills.
Hours: The Relief Resident Worker is required to be in the home and available overnight for 12 hours – 4 hours awake and 8 hours sleep each shift (between the hours of 7pm and 7am). Active engagement with the youth during each shift is required.
Some of the key aspects of this role include:
- Promote and actively support youth with life skills and parenting skills that will allow the youth to transition successfully to independence.
- Organize and/or participate in in regular activities (cooking, cleaning, recreation, social, educational) with the youth, either in the home or in the community.
- Provide support and develop relationships with the youth and their natural supports.
- Communicate with supervisor and Transition Workers in YTA around any key issues regarding youth or house needs in a timely manner.
- Ensure Trinity Place is maintained in a clean manner.
- Complete emergency drills as per the outlined schedule.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Diploma or Degree in Human Services
- Two years of relevant experience
- Experience working with youth with complex needs
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the Natural Supports Framework, would be an asset
- Current standard First Aid Certification and Suicide Intervention Training
- Valid Driver’s license and adequate automobile insurance
- A current Police Check and Child Intervention check are also required.

Salary: $22.06 per hour (Awake) and $15.00 per hour (Sleep)
